International students and trainee students enrolled in Turkish preparatory courses at the Eskişehir Osmangazi University Center for Turkish Language Teaching, Research, and Application (ESOGÜ TÖMER) organized a meaningful event that combined their Turkish learning journey with the arts. The plays titled “Tımarhane Manzaralı Konak” and “Boyacı,” prepared under the direction of Center academic staff member Lecturer Tuğçe Coşkun, were presented to the audience.
The plays performed by ESOGÜ TÖMER students not only contributed to the development of their language skills but also played a significant role in helping students from diverse cultural backgrounds gain a deeper understanding of Turkish culture and strengthen their ability to express themselves in Turkish. After months of preparation, the students received a standing ovation from the audience for their stage performances.
The event held special significance as it marked the first theater production organized by students in the history of ESOGÜ TÖMER. In this regard, the theater performance served as a concrete demonstration of the center’s commitment to cultural and artistic activities alongside language instruction. This inaugural event was regarded as a model initiative that supports students’ social integration, boosts their self-confidence, and encourages them to use Turkish in natural communication settings. At the end of the performance, Center Director Prof. Dr. Oktay Berber congratulated Lecturer Tuğçe Coşkun, who contributed to the adaptation, preparation, and staging of the plays for students learning Turkish, as well as the students Taeba Nurelhady and Hadeel Alhammadi, who served as assistant directors, and all the international students who performed in the plays.
ESOGÜ TÖMER continues to contribute to the academic, social, and cultural development of international students by supporting Turkish language instruction with cultural and artistic activities.
